Daily Bread 10-26-16

Colossians 2:18,19

18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up in his fleshly mind,

19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.

All the rituals, all the traditions, all the physical actions and worldly sacrifice means nothing to God unless He is in it. Many are out teaching that a gospel of acts and deeds will bring us closer to God and this is absolutely wrong. If we are truly seeking a heavenly, Godly reward our actions and sacrifices must be fueled by God and our faith in Him. Saying you cannot get to heaven unless you do this action or that sacrifice is no different than the pharisees demanding that the people in Antioch that they must be circumcised after the manner of Moses to be saved. A shout to the Lord, a tear shed in worship, hands lifted high before the Lord must all be inspired by the Spirit that God has put within us. Otherwise we just become a bunch of trained monkeys from the circus. This is far from the circus but men who are puffed up like to see other men follow their every move so they pervert the gospel into their own list of rules. If we do not have Christ in us there is no amount of music, worship, even obedience that will get us our reward from God. So, instead of this and that first we must have God in our lives through the grace and mercy of salvation in Jesus Christ in order to receive our reward. So, let us hold up the Head(Jesus Christ as stated in Colossians 1), the way of thinking, the force that drives us, the name above all names, not only in our hearts and minds, but let our lives follow and the reward that we all are seeking after, eternal life, will be ours!! But let no man trick you or steer you in the wrong direction. There is salvation in no other name than that of Jesus Christ. Seek ye first his kingdom and his righteousness and all things shall be added unto you. You want to know how to worship him? Learn of him, draw closer to him, give your life to him, and you will see, the reward is not in a building made by hands but it is in the Holy Spirit of God in Jesus Christ!! He is waiting for all of us to draw closer to him so he can show us the way to please his Father!! Let's go and find what he has for us without being led away from the straight and narrow pathway that is Jesus Christ!!! Have a great day!!!
