Daily Bread 8-19-16

Mark 6:35-37

35 And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:

36 Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.

37 He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?

ref. - Matt 14:15 - And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

Luke 9:12 - And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.

Matt 15:33 - And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

John 6:7 - Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one may take a little.

Why do we look toward the Master and expect ordinary results? Even in this scripture the closest ones to Jesus were expecting ordinary results from the one that they called the Son of God. This is the very reason that Christ told us that we could move mountains if we believed. Through Christ we should not expect ordinary results, because he is so much more powerful and his mercy is so much more than ordinary. We read this story and we know that the multitudes were fed and that there were leftovers enough to feed the disciples and take some with them. Not before even the disciples looked at things with carnal eyes and doubted him. They even went so far as to try to tell Jesus how to do it. But they were looking on things with the eyes of their bodies and not the faith in their hearts. When we are told that God's children will never have to be seen begging for bread we need to believe it! Do not be discouraged when questions arise and doubts and fears enter in, it happened even to the "top dogs" of the day when Christ was here. What we need to do, rather, is listen for His answer and when he does give us an answer, even though it will be extraordinary and larger than we see possible, we need to believe in it and push forward into it. You see, if we only needed an ordinary, earthly savior, there would have been no need for someone that is out of this earth to come and supply our needs. This Jesus that we speak of? He is capable of all things and through his eyes we will see bigger, better, more unexplainable things than the world will ever notice. So let us stop worrying, let us stop questioning what he brings us, and let us start following him not with our own eyes, but through his eyes. His vision is not clouded nor is it out of focus. In Him, through Him, and for Him is the way that God created us to be. With this in our hearts and a bit of diligence in our minds we will cast our cares upon him and see that his answers are bigger than the world could ever imagine!!! Have a great day!!
