Daily Bread 6-15-16

Hebrews 6:4-6

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

ref. - Matt 12:32 - And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

Heb. 10:26 - For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

2 Peter 2:20 - For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

Heb 10:32 - But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions.

Eph 2:8 - For by grace ye are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Heb 10:29 - Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under the foot of the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Today let us approach a very serious scripture. When we re saved we have made an agreement with God and repented of our sins. He has forgiven us them and then we are to sanctify our lives through his word. We must get to know his word and learn the spiritual meanings and mysteries of it. We must gain understanding of God's will. We will not get into the importance of Church today, we will just say that the Church is here to help us on this journey and without it we would not only be lost but probably never found our way in the first place. So, now that we have learned and put forth an effort to remain without sin in our lives there is a baptism that occurs. A baptism that cannot be performed by any man nor can we earn it through bodily exercise. This is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. There is no more claim for ignorance for his laws are within us. There is no more claim for Spiritual weakness for God's Spirit dwells within us. What these scriptures are trying to tell us is that there is no more repentance for us if we purposely do, even under conviction of the Holy Spirit, what God has shown us in our hearts to be sin. Remember, no more claiming ignorance. This is a strict warning to all who have received and those who are looking, not to sin willfully for the results of that sin will be spiritual destruction. Does this mean we will never slip or offend? No, it means that if we think we are getting by with something that we know is wrong we are only condemning ourselves. So, children, now is the time to flee from sin and press in towards the righteousness that he created us to be in. If we feel ourselves doing something or saying something that we know is not right we need to stop, and pray for control and deliverance from that issue or act. If we truly believe that the Spirit of God is in us then we also know that we, in the name of Jesus, have control over every other Spirit and every other being. The gift that God gave us when his Spirit enter ours is priceless and the power that it gives us is greater than any other power in heaven or on earth. So we must know that there is nothing that we cannot conquer with this Spirit within us. We must also know that with great gifts come great responsibility. We must first use these gifts to keep ourselves and then use them to help others that God has put in our paths. So, today, do not take this scripture as a threat, but as a great promise that we, if within his will and in possession of the Holy Ghost, are capable of staying within the boundaries of his will and that no weapon formed against us will prosper. Use the power and if you feel yourself slipping, weak, or falling away, get on your knees and let the Holy Spirit of God refresh you and give you strength! After all, that is why He is here!!
