Daily Bread 5-31-16

James 3:7-9

7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

ref. - Gen 1:26 - And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Oh, what great soldiers of God we would be if we could only tame that tongue! God made us to be superior to every other living being! We were made to rule over things on earth in His likeness! Where we have slipped up and where we need to do some maintenance though is on our own selves. We must strive to maintain that superiority. The word of God focuses on our tongue today. If we could only find the self-control that it takes to tame our mouths. You can say a thousand good things and no one will notice or be effected by them but one foul word or one word spewed out in anger, out of control, can destroy what years of kindness has built up in us. We must realize that God did not create us to be inferior or to be below any living thing on this earth but we must realize that he created all humankind to be this and not just a chosen few. His will was not that one soul go lost but that we all come to the knowledge of the truth and that, as he created us in his own image, we strive to attain the greatness that he created us to attain. But the tongue. This is something that we cannot tame on our own, but God can. Does he do it be removing it? No. He tames the tongue by removing the thoughts that turn into action in it. Through His Son Jesus Christ we are promised that our thoughts can be purified so that His will becomes our will. So, no, he will not change the physical aspect of our tongue nor it's ability to speak. What he will do is alter the source. He will change our hearts and minds to realize that blessing and cursing from the same mouth is not right. When this happens we must repent and let him remove whatever it is that is causing our failure. You see, no man can change what is inside of them through their own will or their own power, but God can and will if we let Him. So, today, let us march forward boldly to the feet of Jesus and let him clean us up in the way that only he can. You will see that when He does something, it is sealed. We can have that dominion over all living things and also fulfill the Holy calling that he has called us to do. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Children, Rise up and walk!!!! Have a great day!!!
