Daily Bread 5-17-16
May 17, 2016
15 Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.
16 And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.
17 Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barbados, or Jesus which is called Christ?
18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
19 When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.
21 The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.
22 Pilate said unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but rather a tumult was made, he took water, washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person; see ye to it.
25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

Luke 23:18 - And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas.
John 18:40 - Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
Numbers 35:33 - So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
Deut 19:10 - That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.
Just read this scripture and let it soak in today. He was falsely accused and they all knew it. He was delivered to the cross because people were envious of him. Even the governor washed his hands of the matter as he new Christ was blameless. Christ allowed it to be done for us. But out of envy a few people started this revolt and out of ignorance the whole crowd was manipulated into following them. Today, let us not be followers of the ones who are hanging Christ on a cross daily. The reason that Pilate refused to take part in the crucifixion of Christ was because his wife had a vision in a dream about Christ. She believed, and therefore, so did he. We are not an ignorant people that cannot learn of Christ and know which way that our devotion should point. God has made us capable of making our own decisions in whether we want to follow worldly people and be "normal", or to follow Jesus and be "peculiar". We know that his will is that we follow Jesus but often we find ourselves trying to fit in with a crowd that has been manipulated by the enemy. Today, rather than be the followers of wrong. let us rise up as leaders and wash our hands of those who are still fighting against Christ and also rise up and cast away their evil doings. Let us cleanse ourselves in the blood of the lamb that will wash us pure and white as snow! Even though we will not be a part of the majority most times let us at least stand up and remove ourselves from that which will condemn us. If Jesus changed our lives the way we say he did, we already know that he is the Christ and that he is the only one we can follow to God. So take this scripture and let it soak in. And have a great day!!!
